Euro-Quest Continental

Our transcontinental itinerary kicks off with two weeks in Italy as we walk in the footsteps of the Roman Empire, luxuriate along Mediterranean coast, and sample the best of modern Italian culture. Visit world-famous sites like the Coliseum, the Sistine Chapel, the leaning Tower of Pisa, the canals of Venice, the Vatican, and Michelangelo’s David sculpture. Along the way, we explore the picturesque Tuscan countryside, raft in the back-country of Slovenia, and make time to enjoy the delicious local Italian cuisine.

From Italy, we head north through the Swiss Alps and into the French countryside via train. The second half of Euro-Quest Continental is about experiencing the grand capitals of Western Europe – Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, and London. Visit world-famous sites like Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum, Buckingham Palace, the Champs-Elysees, and the canals of Amsterdam. Along the way we tour the Dutch countryside by bicycle, cruise down the River Seine in Paris at night, and reflect on the D-Day landing site in Normandy.

As an experience for Jewish teens, Euro-Quest Continental is also about connecting with the colorful history of the Jewish People in Europe. We visit centuries-old synagogues, spend a special Shabbat with the Jewish communities of Rome, Venice, London and Brussels, and confront the devastating effects of the Holocaust at the Anne Frank House and at Fort Breendonk.

WEEK #1 / Rome, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius
Land in Rome and the journey begins in the ancient capital of the Roman Empire. Explore the Coliseum, Pantheon and the Forum Romanum. Head south to the Naples region of Italy where we tour the preserved ruins of Pompeii and ascent to the Mt. Vesuvius volcano. Our first week ends with a visit to the Vatican followed by a memorable Shabbat in Rome's Jewish Quarter.

WEEK #2 / Pisa, Florence, Slovenia & Venice
From Rome we head north along the coast to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa and explore the beautiful art and architecture of Florence. Continue north through the Tuscan countryside to Slovenia for a rafting, hiking and caving adventure in Europe's back country. Our second week concludes in the magical city of Venice on the water.

WEEK #3 / Milan, Paris & London
Our travels in Italy conclude in Milan, the world's fashion capital, followed by an overnight Euro-Rail journey through Switzerland to France. In Paris, we explore a city of world treasures, world class shopping, and world famous food. Walk under the Arc De Triumph, stroll the Champs-Elysee, tour Versailles Palace, and view the Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum. On our way to England, we break for a solemn visit to the D-Day Normandy landing on Omaha Beach before spending the night at sea crossing the English Channel. Arriving to London, we visit famous sites like Big Ben, the Piccadilly Circus, Buckingham Palace, and spend a special Shabbat in London meeting with local Jewish teens.

WEEK #4 / England, Belgium & Holland
Our final week begins exploring the English countryside: Oxford University, Stonehenge, and the chalk cliffs of Dover. Cross over to Belgium to tour of the treasures of Brussels, Antwerp and reflect at Fort Breendonk, the transit point to Auschwitz. Our travels conclude in colorful Amsterdam, with its criss-crossing canals, the masterpieces of Van Gogh and the home of Anne Frank.
