ILSI - A Message from the Director

What a busy few days we have had! Days filled with learning about Ben Gurion at his home and now museum in the Negev, followed by waking up at 3 am to watch the Sunrise over Masada and hiking to beautiful waterfalls. We ended our time down south with a nice afternoon at the Dead Sea. It has been a magical few days!

Now for the important information that I want to share with you. We are currently up North (out of any danger zone) and staying at one of the most beautiful places I have seen in Israel. Since day one we have been updating and educating the teens day and night on the situation. There has been no fear but rather curiosity of what is going on. Being a leadership program we have one of the strongest community of teens, staff and Israeli educators that I have seen in my 10 plus years of experience with BBYO and teen programming. We are handling the situation with constant communication, discussions and support when needed. I briefed the group this morning and they were calm and excited (for programming) as we went off for our days adventures.

Please know we of course are monitoring the situation on a consistent bases, but are safe up North and continuing as planned with our schedule while adding in constant updates and open conversations!

There are clearly a lot of difficult situations happening in Israel right now, but please know the feeling over here amongst ILSI participants is a calm and safe one. This is a difficult time but every step is being used as a teachable moment. In fact one group of teens shared last night that they feel "that they are part of Israel's mission and support team while be here during this time"- I could not agree more. They are the future leaders of our Jewish world, they are not letting one thing stop them from learning and absorbing Israel and strengthening their Judaism.

Please know that while we are here, I and our staff consider your children as our own children and their safety is our number one priority. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask!
