Our Tikkun Olam Day

Imagine standing in our shoes. Getting off the bus and walking up a hill until we reached the entrance of the orphanage. Feeling the cool breeze rushing through our hair and over our fingertips, we anxiously waited the arrival of the children.

What is an Ambassador?

Oh SUNDAY! In the morning, we watched a documentary made by fellow BBYO teens a few years ago about the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust. It was a story we had never heard before this trip, and after hearing the testimonials of Bulgarians who were saved, we are eager to share the story when we return home.

Our Shabbat in Bulgaria

Friday morning began in Veliko Turnovo, with a beautifully chilly morning capping off a night at an incredible hotel. After a quick bus ride, we disembarked at the small village of Etura and spent the next hour smelling traditional Bulgarian candies and purchasing small gifts for our families and friends (including the entire trip purchasing matching braided leather friendship bracelets).

Journeying through Bulgaria

Since arriving at JFK, each of the teens on Ambassadors to Bulgaria have been bonding and creating ever lasting friendships. Today, we embarked on a journey from the southern coast, through the Bulgarian mountains to the town of Veliko Turnovo.

Day 2 With Our Balkan Friends

It was only day 2 of the Ambassador to Bulgaria trip, but by the end of it, I felt like I've been here for a month. Why? By the end of the day i was comfortable calling my fellow participants my family.

From New York to Bulgaria

In the last 26 hours I have met 70 new people, crossed over an entire ocean, experienced multiple airports, flights, and even a 6 hour bus ride.

But as I sit here in the Bulgarian sea breeze, on the balcony of our hotel I can't help but look back on the past day as the ultimate adventure.
